Yay! @ 12:47 am

Using the new laptop now!  I am pleased.  I have portability now.  Though, after the direct transfer of everything from my old computer to my laptop I have discovered that my iTunes won't let me listen to music as it is a newer version of iTunes than I was using so, I must transfer it the "old fashioned" way: put all of it on an external drive then onto my laptop.

Laptop.

Alright, so my iMac is slowly committing suicide as I may have mentioned before.
One of my ram slots is dead, the screen has dozens of vertical color lines and last night, it the graphics card overheated and it turned itself off (granted that may have been my fault but the point remains...)

I am thinking of getting a MacBook since I seem to have need to move my computer more often these days and moving my setup, while manageable, can be annoying.  A new MacBook with a 250GB HD and 4Gigs of ram with Apple Care, would be about $1400 (1250 without AppleCare but the adventures with my current Mac has shown me it is likely a worthy investment).  A MacBook Pro of the same basic specs would be $200 more and the few details that make it different or "better" than the regular MacBook don't seem worth the extra money.

Now, the only thought that remains: is 1400 worth the effort of getting a MacBook?  Or should I cut my cost and go with a PC and load Linux onto it? :-P

Small Update @ 12:57 pm

Current Mood: content

Christmas was nice.  Spent the eve of with my family down in Livermore.  It was actually quite nice and not question oriented as so many visits are.  We played Oh, Hell, ate dumpling, open gifts.  It was nice.  The day of, I spent with Rob's family.  I still feel I am close with his family, and with him, after all of this.  It makes me happy.

I had a day off yesterday, which was my third of last week outside Christmas Eve and Day.  It was fantastic.  I don't usually have 3 days off a week.  Sometimes I don't even have 2 days off in a row...

I am doing well, I think.  I still have some moments, but I am not crying all the time or fretting.  I feel mostly at peace.
